Hi Im Desarae, this is the second year I have been involved with the Amateur Division. I have been involved with quarter horses for nearly 25 years.
My goal as a committee member is to ensure that all amateurs are equal. I like that the division has a transparency in place so that all members are aware of what is happening within their division.
I live with my husband in the Lower Hunter Valley and breed Quarter Horses for ourselves to show, and run our own business.
2008 was a dream year, with the mare we bred, RRD Somethin to Cee, winning the NPHA 2yo WP Futurity.
I am certainly looking forward to showing the mare this season as an amateur horse and meeting a whole lot more amateurs personally.

Joanne Gregory - Treasurer
My name is Joanne Gregory. I have been involved with western horses for the
past 30 years. I mainly show my quarter horse gelding in western pleasure
and showmanship and have to say that showmanship is my favourite class.
I am also an AQHA accredited judge and really enjoy judging.
It has taken me all over Australia and to New Zealand and New Caledonia.
Through judging I have met many great people with the same horsey interest as mine.
I also work full time for a Defence Contractor as a Performance Coordinator and this
also sees me travel to all of our sites around Australia. I have become involved with the AQHA Amateur Division as I believe the future of the Quarter Horse in Australia is through the Amateurs and wish to help where I can to promote this great horse and the Amateur riders and handlers.

Committee - Kim Wearn
Kim has been competing in the western industry for almost 12 years. Beginning as a youth showing appaloosa’s and paints Kim began to show quarter horses when her family purchased Winderadeen Casanova eight years ago. Kim has been an amateur for five years and competes all over Australia.
Kim lives in Canberra and works in finance for the Canberra Raiders football club.
Kim and her family are actively involved members of the ACT and Southern NSW Quarter horse association.

Sue Simmons - Committee
I have been involved in showing quarter horses for approx 7 years and live on a 10 acre property in South Maroota NSW near the Hawkesbury River.
I have a positive and passionate outlook towards the amateur division and wish to contribute to the implementation of promotional programs and cultivate positive and enduring relationships with my fellow amateurs. I maintain the importance of a friendly and helpful perspective and a positive proud approach to my committee position.
I look forward to meeting up with all my fellow Amateurs at upcoming events and having a friendly chat or discuss any issues or comments you may like to raise about the Amateur Division.
